Today I’m going down a little bit of a rabbit rodent hole. A coworker at day job introduced me to the wondrous viscacha last week, and I just had to share in case you’ve also never heard of this animal. The pictures either make it look like it’s been smoking some wacky baccy or like it’s mildly pissed off at everything, maybe thinking “I’m not sure how many forks I have left to give and might need one to jab someone”. I don’t smoke anything, wacky or otherwise, but that second category resonates sometimes.
It looks like the opposite of the quokka - you know, perpetually smiling rodent. The one that looks like that perennially chipper person you’re sure is going to snap one day. Don’t get my wrong, I love quokkas but no one would describe me as chipper unless I’d just taken some allergies meds … and even then, you’d probably say I’m more wacky baccy viscacha.
So which one are you? Today, tomorrow might be different.

Writing update
Yup, I’m working on book 4 of the Lyra Cycle. I have written words. There might be a pirate? That is the update in its totality.
But in the meantime, you can get a sneak peek of my Armchair Alien co-conspirator’s next book over on armchairalien.com.
What I’m reading
I did a beta read of Jeannette’s book (mentioned above) — I can’t wait for the final version.
In keeping with my eclectic tastes mentioned last time, I also finished a Guy Gavriel Kay book on my TBR shelf for a number of years — The Last Light of the Sun. This one was the one inspired by early English / northern European history. I’ve read the Lions of Al-Rassan, inspired by Andalusia. One thing I found interesting was how, even though these stories are not connected at all, he sets them in the same world by referring to that other location from the other book.
