Happy midsummer (happy midwinter if you’re on the far side of the world … I wonder what’s actually on the opposite site of the world from me? Hmm, apparently somewhere off the coast of south Africa.)
My big summer plans were going on a semi-annual camping trip this weekend. However, that was nixed by concerns about a nearby wildfire and its impact on air quality. In the end, it would have been okay but I was worried about being stuck outside with my migraine-prone brain. But it meant I got a bit more writing done.
Have you had any vacation plans turned upside down? What’s your #1 tip for rolling with the flow?
In other news, I attended a talk on bird banding — and I won the competition for name the most birds in the slides! All I won was glory and an incredible sense of satisfaction 😄. The talk was fascinating. I love birds; I can watch them for … maybe not hours, but definitely minutes. I could see myself becoming a birder. And volunteering for something like bird banding would be right up my alley … except for the pre-4:00 AM start. Did I mention my migraine-prone head? Are you a birder? What’s you favourite bird?
Writing update
Book 4 in The Lyra Cycle is coming along. I know what needs to happen … I just need to turn it into words. However, I discovered I could go to the nearby university library. Being summer, it’s very quiet there, a great writing location where I’m not distracted by all the things at home. Like the TV.
Books for your TBR shelf
There’s still another day to support the Kickstarter from my Armchair Alien co-conspirator. I thoroughly enjoyed it as a beta reader.
In the meantime, Lunar Escape is running over on Armchair Alien.
Also, there are a few more days to pick up books in the Urban Fantasy sale and discover a new author in the Battle of the Beasts.
Happy reading!
