This week’s a bit of a break from my mental meanderings, both for me and for you. They’ll be back soon.
Gardening season has officially started here. Well, I met up with some friends last week to swap seeds. That counts as official, right? I shared some carrots and lettuce, a few beans, and picked up peppers, beans, lots of flowers … I’m sure there’s more. I made out like a bandit. My new place has an enclosed balcony that’s southwest facing so it gets smoking hot in the summer — too hot for a banana plant — so I’m trying hot peppers out there this year.
Here are the seed boxes, in all their glory. Most of the garden will be planted in taxes … I mean beans, that bottom box is just beans.
Do you have a garden? Do you wish you had a garden? What do you / would you plant?
Writing update
In between planning the garden (aka, figuring out how I’m going to fit everything I want to grow on my small plot at the allotment garden), I’m working on a Lyra Cycle “short” story. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be 10K words. Then it’s back to the final round of edits on books 3 … and then the urban fantasy spin-off I keep promising.
Books for your TBR list
Currently, I’m reading Hench by Natalie Zina Walschots. So far, I’m enjoying it and imagine I’ll recommend it when I’m done (and it might make an appearance in a future post).
In the meantime, check out Where Weavers Dare by R.K. Bentley.
On a world where ancient magic and technology exist, the skeletons of the past never stay buried for long. Melinda Scott should know. She just found a big one.
Where Weavers Daire is the first book in a new rip-roaring space opera series in the same vein as Babylon 5, Farscape and Star Wars!
p.s. I love that cover!
